Living Your Passion
It could be defined as a strong emotion that is difficult to control. It is also the feeling of being made for something: amazing an audience with dribbles, extraordinary goals, like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do, bringing smiles to people’s faces like Ellen Degeneres (often thanks to her dance moves), etc.
Passion is a universal experience in its essence; however, not everyone finds it in the same way. Based on the book “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert, we could say that there are two types of people in our world: jackhammers and hummingbirds.
The way these people find and live their passions is radically different. Why and how to live your passion? Follow this article to learn more.
What distinguishes passion from work?
Passion and work can overlap if you love the job you do. Unfortunately, that is not the case for many people. One could say that the majority of people do not live their passions.
Not everyone is necessarily lucky enough to have a passion. The notion of passion is quite subjective, in the sense that it is the person themselves who experiences the feeling; it is up to them to determine whether the activity they engage in is a passion or not.
Sometimes we cultivate a passion that is linked to an emotion or a group of emotions. And this is appreciated by the one who practices it. When we have a passion for an activity, it brings us so much pleasure that we lose track of time.
A good passion is an activity that can make us forget our worries and allow us to live a life of relaxation. It should also be said that a good passion is a matter of creativity. As for work, it is a professional activity dedicated to production or services.
The work performed is supposed to earn us money to live. One could say that work is perceived as a constraint. “If I don’t work, I won’t have money to meet my daily needs.”
Work is, therefore, something that is imposed on every human being. It would not be wise to avoid it. Work may not be paid. One can engage in volunteer work, seeing it as a passion. Thus, it is possible for a person to turn their passion into a professional activity.
Why live your passion?
Do you believe it is possible for an individual to make their passion their job? Yes, even though that is not the case for many people. Doing what we love has powerful effects on the course of our destiny. Various reasons should lead us to live our passion. And even to make our job a passion.
- Living your passion means fully realizing yourself
We must choose our passion and practice it to allow ourselves to be ourselves, to be in harmony with our tastes, values, interests, and life goals. When a person engages in an activity that aligns with what they would have desired, they feel useful in what they do.
A job where they feel they contribute to the evolution of the organization, the team, the family, etc., makes for a happy and confident person who brings more value to the work performed. Being in the place one desires means living one’s passions, realizing one’s dreams, feeling like they shine brightly, and living the life one has always wished for.
- Living your passion means being motivated and having fun working
When a person works in a job they are passionate about, it allows them to:
- Have fun daily
- Have the motivation and energy necessary to accomplish their tasks or activities.
- Wake up in the morning without difficulty, as they look forward to pursuing their passion.
- Work many hours without realizing it because they feel like they haven’t worked since it is their passion.
- Experience happiness, joy, pleasure, and laughter daily.
- Be able to eliminate from their daily life expressions like: “Oh no, not Monday already! And yay, finally Friday.”
- Living your passion means not needing retirement
By making your passion your work, you will no longer feel like you are working. Since work is fun for you, there will be no retirement plan to think about and prepare. You will do what you love consistently, with energy, passion, and enthusiasm.
- Living your passion means having naturally bright eyes
Doing what we love, what is our passion, allows us to have bright eyes. Because we are doing what our soul dictates.
- Living your passion means not waiting for retirement to realize it
Engaging in our passion gives us the advantage of not waiting for retirement to realize our dreams, projects, and goals. Simply put, to live better.
Many people constantly say, “Oh, I can’t wait to retire to pursue my goals, my passions, etc.” It would be important for you not to wait for that moment but rather to do it now. Because nothing guarantees that you will still be here tomorrow.
Living your passion means avoiding negative emotions
The more a person distances themselves from their passion, the more their body can send them signals. Namely, lack of interest, fatigue, loss of energy, stress, etc.
We have a body that talks to us to show us the real path to take towards our true nature. So, if you do not follow your passion, it means you are going against that voice within you.
This could have negative effects on your well-being, health, and quality of life. Sometimes, when a person engages in an activity that is not their passion, they suffer from stress, anxiety, and obesity. To fill the void, they resort to substitutes such as alcohol, food, and tobacco.
- Living your passion means positively contaminating your surroundings
Living your passion means flourishing. The more passionate we are, the more we radiate positive vibes around us. This joy and positive energy around us is then beneficial for those around us. We become a source of inspiration and hope for the people in our environment.
How to live your passion to truly flourish?
If you desire to live fully from your passion, it is up to you to find your vocation. Because that constitutes the starting point. You must know exactly what makes you vibrate and also your best skills in a specific field.
From the moment you are convinced of your idea and it is clear in your mind, it is up to you to take action and make everything happen. To live from your passion and also to flourish, you must be able to overcome your fears.
What holds most people back from realizing their passion, their dream of living, is undoubtedly the ability to overcome various unconscious blockages. We all have these unconscious blockages within us. That is to say, our fears.
It is therefore a fear with many facets: fear of failure, fear of being criticized, fear of success, fear of being visible, fear of displaying oneself, fear of being envied if one earns too much money, fear of speaking in public, fear of lacking money, fear of not being credible, etc.
With unlimited sources, these are fears that vary from one individual to another. To live your passion and better flourish, you must therefore get rid of all these different fears that constitute blockages.
Thus, you will be able to easily engage in the realization of your professional project that is a passion for you and achieve your financial independence.
