How to keep your motivation?

It is what drives us to move towards our dreams, to surpass ourselves to achieve our goals. We need it in all areas of our life: at work, embarking on a personal project, wanting to diet, etc. It evokes in us a strength, energy, and effectiveness.

One could say that it is a fantastic anti-stress. It does not resonate with doubt and discouragement. It is the engine of our various actions. Do you know who we are talking about? Of course, about motivation.

You need to keep the motivation within you. That’s how you will be able to overcome all difficulties that arise in your life. How to manage to keep your motivation? Here are some tips that will help you achieve that.

The application of the minutes method (2 or 5 mins)

As a saying goes, “appetite comes with eating.” We always start small to achieve great things. When we start taking care of something without thinking it will take us a monstrous amount of time, it is therefore easier to handle. It may happen that the first time it doesn’t work. Don’t blame yourself. Try again another time.

The breakdown of your goals

Keeping your motivation means setting clear, positive, and measurable goals, especially when it’s a difficult task. Avoid setting distant, unattainable goals. And even too many goals at once. Instead, choose a goal that you can achieve quickly and focus completely on it.

Checking your progress

Keeping motivation means knowing if you are getting closer to the goal you set for yourself. Checking your progress will allow you to readjust your work and also refocus.

Being happy with your work and congratulating yourself

It is important to congratulate and reward yourself. Treat yourself to a moment of relaxation, a gift, following a success or when you feel proud of your progress.

Finding support for work

Do not hesitate to find people who have similar tasks or goals to yours, in order to work with them and move forward together. Don’t be afraid to share your projects with your loved ones. Tell them that you want support for motivation, if necessary.

Avoid being too hard on yourself

Motivation is not a constant thing. It can decrease because you are tired. So, take a little moment to rest. This loss of motivation can also occur because something is bothering you. Take the time to clear your mind about this problem by solving it.

If the demotivation comes from the project itself, then analyze and ask yourself questions: why this loss of motivation? Reflect on the different elements that may lead to this demotivation and take back control of the situation.

Replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts

Keeping your motivation intact means letting go of negative thoughts, such as: “it is impossible for me, it’s too hard, I won’t succeed, …”. The mind is what drives us in all our activities.

So, nurturing positive thoughts means always being motivated to execute our tasks. Congratulate yourself, believe in it, encourage yourself, have a positive attitude towards yourself.

Putting positivity into tasks you don’t like

You may not like all the tasks that are part of completing a project. However, it is possible for you to make them manageable. Accomplish these different tasks while listening to your favorite show or music.

Establishing good habits

How do you start your day? How do you begin a task or a project? Get into the habit of always starting something with joy. Make it a reflex.

Taking breaks

Keeping your motivation means giving your brain a rest from time to time. This will protect you from burnout. Rest will allow you to regain strength and maintain your motivation.
